THIN LIZZY “JAILBREAK”

greatest rock song ever.

Yes. Double Yes. I will introduce Thin Lizzy to anyone who considers themselves rock fans, but isn’t familiar with the Lizzy. They fucking RULE. Phil Lynott, end of discussion.

There are about a thousand things that I love about this song in particular: “Tonight there’s gonna be a jailbreak/somewhere in this town!” - I’m pretty sure it’s going to be AT THE JAIL.

“Tonight there’s be trouble/ some of us won’t survive!” - Holy shit. That’s pretty dark for a rock song with such an upbeat tempo. I thought we were having a good time. It makes me think that by the end of the song, the drums just suddenly cut out because the drummer was gunned down by the cops.

But without a doubt my favorite has to be that on their Greatest Hits release, “Dedication,” this song “Jailbreak” is followed by the song Thin Lizzy is most famous for- “The Boys are Back in Town!” Suspiciously, after Thin Lizzy sang about busting out of the slammer, the very next day the boys suddenly appeared in town again and started getting drunk down at Dino’s Bar and Grill. Hmmmm…

Go get yourself some Lizzy. I highly recommend “Dedication,” because the whole album will rock you six ways from Sunday.
